For local fine dining, it is tough to beat The Guest House at Lost River. The LOST RIVER GRILL is another great option with weekly specials, live music, and great atmosphere.
Moorefield also has some good food options. Our favorites are Gennaros Italian and Mullins 1847.
Farmers Markets
LOST RIVER FARMERS MARKET. Great local produce, fantastic breakfast sandwiches, specialty baked goods, and wines and great local events. Be sure to check their hours.
The Wardensville Garden Market is also great stop on the way in from DC to stock up on locally grown produce, great baked goods, and other local fare. All done for a great cause.
Grocery Stores.
Kerr's in Wardensville is a good spot on the way from DC. Moorefield has a Walmart and Food Lion. A handful of fast food options in Moorefield as well.
LOCAL SHOPS
LOST RIVER TRADING POST is open seven days a week located in Wardensville, WV and features all American-made products along with over 200 local artists, crafters, and woodworkers. Sit a spell inside or on the deck or front porch and enjoy a treat from the scratch bakery or craft beer, wine and espresso bar.
Arts and Entertainment
Don’t forget to visit the Lost River Artisans Cooperative, filled with a range of quality items from hand thrown pottery; forged metal tools and art; fused glass; jewelry; and hand spun wool to locally made maple syrup and much more. There’s also a museum of local artifacts on the bottom floor of the cooperative, which is in an old barn.

Lost River Barn features shea butter soap by Savannah Essentials. We discovered them years ago at their Eastern Market booth and we’ve been getting their soaps ever since.
